A Cozy Farmhouse Style Holiday Home Tour | HomeRemediesRx.com

This week I’m joining an awesome group of bloggers for the Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour, organized by Deb at Seeking Lavender Lane. I’m so excited to share my holiday home, and I know you’ll love seeing what my fellow blogger friends have in store, too!

Farmhouse StyleFor those of you who are new here, I’m Amy and I live in a small, rural community on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona with my husband, two kids, and our family pets. It doesn’t actually get cold here, in fact it’s in the high 70′s here today; but I like to pretend we have seasons so I can switch up my home decor occasionally (I’m not the only one that looks forward to seasonal decorating, am I?)

While we’re pretending, why don’t you come on in and get warmed up, from the pretend cold?

A Cozy Farmhouse Entryway - Rustic, warm, and welcoming farmhouse style entryway from HomeRemediesRx.comOur entryway is fairly small, just enough space to put a bench, a shelf, and a console table on the opposite wall. The hooks are great  for hanging our sweaters, scarves, and (usually) bags and backpacks.

I usually stay pretty neutral with my home decor, even during the holidays, but this year I decided to go bold with color and patterns.

I kinda figured, what the heck? It’s the holidays – let’s get a little crazy!

I love all things vintage and farmhouse-y (let’s pretend that’s a real word), so I’ve tried to incorporate some of my favorite “finds” into my holiday decorating this year. Old printer’s trays, DIY fabric covered antlers, and a few faux trees and items from the Target Dollar Spot make for a simple, rustic display on the shelf. A rusty old crate, an enamel pot-turned-planter, and some birch logs add interest to the bench area. Pillows, throws, and a DIY pom-pom garland help soften everything up.

Now that you’ve hung up your parka (remember, it’s bitterly cold out there today), let’s head into the family room and get comfortable.

Our home is an open-concept floor-plan and the main living areas (kitchen, great room, entryway and dining room) all flow together so I tried to make sure the decor transitioned easily from one space to the next.

The sofa is dressed up with some plaid napkin-turned-pillows, the DIY sweater pillows I made a couple of years ago, and some faux fur ones I purchased last holiday from World Market. Cozy knit throws keep the chill off when it’s blustery outside (ah-hem).

And there’s our festive tree, over there in the corner. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

I’m not exactly sure this tree has a theme, but if it did, I bet it would be called rustic, cozy, vintage-y, ski-lodge. I’m pretty sure that’s a real thing. Some DIY pom-poms, a few of the oh-so-popular-this-year wooden ski’s from Target, some Dollar Store snowflakes, a few galvanized pieces, and several spools of ribbon make for a fun and interesting display.

Let’s head into the dining room for some hot- cocoa (remember, it’s awfully cold outside…)

Yes, that’s a giant tree there in the corner. My family rented a cabin up in the mountains over the Thanksgiving holiday and while we were there, we cut down our own tree. This is the first time since hubby and I have been married that we’ve had a real tree at Christmastime. It sure looked a lot smaller out in the woods…

I tried to flock it, but that was kind of a DIY fail … (I’ll save that story for another time).

Next to that is the hot-cocoa bar; tucked into a tiered tray. It’s perfect for holding mugs, cocoa packets, marshmallows, and straws for stirring.

And over in the other corner is my mug rack, an old vintage stool, and a wee- tiny tree tucked into an olive basket.
